Unit 10

From unit 3 till now several things have changed in my life. Physically I have started a new job, and working out is something I look forward to because it is something I love to do. I want to lose weight and learn how to stay healthy. It is not something you can do over night it is a process and it takes time. I am now a 5 in this area of physical because I am more active. Spiritually I am a 5 because I am getting closer to God and he is there when ever I need him. Our van stopped working, our sink started leaking under the sink, and we had no money to fix any of it, but by the grace of God we made it through. Believe in him is all the scripture says, and I do and who ever will listen I will tell them the story about how God saved my life. With these two working out the psychological comes right behind it my anxiety is better, I have not had an attack in weeks and my stress is in God's hands. He will not put more on my plate than I can handle. I do not worry about the small stuff they will work themselves out. By the grace of God we were able to get another car with a warrenty, we were able to fix the leaking sink by ourselves by replaceing a pipe. I could tell you all about the last 20 years from the day I got married but God knows all about my life and the troubles I have went through. I have forgiven the people in my past that have stabbed me in the back on a job, I have forgiven my dad for never being around and still does not even know he has grandchildren. I am not looking back, I am looking forward to a brighter future at the National Fitness Center. God Bless! This was a great class.

Unit 9

Final Project

I.                   Introduction:

It is important for health and wellness professionals to develop psychologically, spiritually and physically because as it says in the Consciousness and healing book, “Integral psychology seeks to be practical and applicable to the problems of daily life, yet at the same time to lead forward those individuals who are ready to transpersonal dimensions of being where experiences of deep integration, meaningfulness, and fulfillment are possible.” (Schlitz, Amorok, & Micozzi, 2005) As professionals we need to be well rounded individuals and balanced with mind, body and spirit to be able to teach others how to achieve the goals they have set for themselves. In order for me to achieve the goals that I have set for myself is to look inward and learn more about me.

II.                Assessment:

For assessing my health in each area I have become more spiritual and that does not mean I am just going to church on Sunday, this means I am getting closer to my lord and savior Jesus and putting my faith in him as the book of John says in chapter 3:16, For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.” (KJV)I am ready to go into the light and let myself be known that I am a Christian and God is my savior. Physically I am working out now that I have a job at the Fitness Center it is a slow process but I will not give up reaching my goals. With my behavior change and spiritual change I am on the road to being well rounded.

III.              Goal Development:

My goal physically is to lose weight and fill good about myself, I hate looking at myself in the mirror. At the same time I want to gain muscle and look good. Spiritually I want to get closer to God and understand the bible and get closer to my church family. When I reach these goals I should have the goal of mental health accomplished because filling well about myself and looking good, having confidence should make the anxiety and stress go away.

IV.             Practices for personal health:

Physically I plan to work out and lose weight and change the way I eat and what I buy at the grocery store. The example is when I go grocery shopping I would stay on the outside isles, this would be where the fresh fruit and vegetables are and the chicken and fish. Psychological I will keep working on my problems and making behavior changes. I have got a new job and it has really boosted my confidence the members of the club are already telling the manager that they need to keep me and not let me go because I know how to clean. Spiritually I will keep going to church and get involved in whatever I can. I love working with the younger groups and reading to them about God. I cannot pray in public but I have stepped up to witness to the person I work with at work he has lost his way and I am trying to show him what he is missing by the way I act.

V.                Commitment:

I plan on keeping a journal for my physical workouts and keeping track of what I am loosing. I plan to reward myself when I lose 10 pounds and bring someone to the lord. The reward will be in itself to bring someone to the lord and to get to know him the way I have would be a blessing in itself. I have determination and I will persevere.
